Our House Records Turns One!

Born in 2011 and not stopping in 2012.

When you were little, you had dreams of being an entrepreneur or starting your own company, right? Come on we all did. This dream is still true for my good friends at Our House Records and that is just what they did. Starting from the ground up, these guys have created a pretty well established record label in the heart of San Francisco in one year alone. With two artists on their roster and a few others coming in next year, this is a record label you will want to keep in tune with.
I have had the real pleasure of getting to know this group of people very well. They are a huge part of my life and it's amazing to see the steps they have made and how they are celebrating their first birthday! As a part of my research, I had the pleasure of getting interviews with a few of the members of Our House Records even with their crazy busy schedules.

Our House Records was developed in the early years of High School in the valley of Los Angeles . Best friends since their kindergarten years, Austin Jacobsen and Daniel Gomez, of the DJ duo Realboy, started out with making music. There was this idea of starting a record label floating around this circle of friends. They began by bouncing tracks off one another and constantly being at each others houses and everyone became sucked into it and wanted to be a part of it. "Eventually it took over everybody's lives and we wanted to do it and we wanted to make a living off of it, and we just wanted to promote our own music while also promoting other people's music in the city" -Daniel Gomez
Thus, Our House Records was eventually born. Its name comes from the great wording by Jordan Spaulding (Marketing and Public Relations) who originally heard the name from the song "Our House" by Madness. "He brought up the name and we all initially thought it was perfect, it just sounded right -- a lot of people that we party with are our friends and the people that hang out at our house are our friends" -Oliver Escardo (CEO/Artist Manager)
"So we decided we wanted to make a record label and we needed a name, so really it was just brainstorming for a few weeks until Jordan Spaulding, who uh, is pretty good with words, he is kinda like a witty motherfucker, he just heard that song [Our House by Madness] on the radio and just thought it would sound good, Our House Records and we all just agreed pretty immediately" -Austin Jacobsen

Knowing these boys as well as I do, Our House Records just makes sense. I couldn't imagine any other name that would describe their label more perfectly then, welcome to our house.

Ranging from 20 to 21 years old, these boys mean serious business. Taking their record label seriously in the beginning parts have helped establish themselves into one of the top underground record labels. In the first year their whole goal was mainly to learn about the music industry in terms of a business. We wanted to get an "understanding of the industry inside and out" - Oliver Escardo -- And learning about the music industry they have, unexpectedly working with numerous event companies and artists is a great achievement for them in the first year.
"The first year has been a lot of grounding and hard business to get all our legal issues ready and handled. We're a bunch of college kids doing this, we like to prepare, we understand this" -Oliver Escardo
They understand they are young and it's hard to be taken seriously at this age, but these boys are not messing around. For such a big and close group of friends, they really do work this record label like a job. It isn't just a little side project for them, this record label is their careers.

"San Francisco just feels like home to us, when I come here I feel like I'm coming home" -Austin Jacobesen -- All hailing from Los Angeles, something different was definitely in order. They decided to start their record label here for the way music is viewed in the Bay Area. In Los Angeles people pay attention to the music because it's trendy as opposed to San Francisco where music is something to be felt and enjoyed. Realboy noticed in San Francisco that there was a ton of great music floating around, but no one really knew about the music or artists. They saw that most people were at the party to drink and do drugs as opposed to knowing what they were listening to. This is what drew Our House Records to want to start their label in San Francisco, to show people that the artist does matter and that you can create a fan base and follow your artists around.
Realboy and second to the Our House Records artist label, Niteppl duo Alton san Giovanni and Gage Seber, will hopefully be artists you can begin to follow digitally. In the next year, Our House Records hopes to create a market in digital sales via beatport and itunes.
This record label is going big and it's not going anywhere any time soon. So I suggest you listen up and catch on quick, because these guys are doing something amazing. Changing the way record labels, artists, and music is viewed; these are the band of friends you would want to be behind it all.

20 Years, Two Compilations

All the Hits and a Handful of Rarities

US Release Date: January 31, 2012

Underworld begins a hectic 2012 by announcing the release of two career spanning compilation albums in January.

Firstly, A Collection is a single disc set which features edited highlights of the band’s 20-year career. A Collection features radio versions of many of the band’s best known tracks alongside recent collaborations with High Contrast & Tiesto (‘The First Note is Silent’), Mark Knight & D. Ramirez (‘Downpipe’) and Brian Eno (‘Beebop Hurry’).

The second compilation - the three-disc 1992-2012 Anthology - radically updates the band’s previous singles compilation by complimenting 16 full-length Underworld classics with nine rare/previously unreleased tracks. From pre-‘Dubnobasswithmyheadman’ outtakes through to newly mixed live recordings, 1992-2012 Anthology’s third disc is an essential purchase for any Underworld fan.

Both compilations are available now from (among other places) the band’s website as digital downloads with physical CD versions will available from 23rd January. CD copies pre-ordered from the website will instantly receive an MP3 download of the album for no extra cost. Pre–ordered CDs will ship w/c January 16 to arrive on or very shortly after the official street date of January 31, 2012.

In December 2011, Underworld were announced as Music Directors for the Opening Ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games. The appointment sees Rick and Karl reunited with the ceremony's Artistic Director Danny Boyle as they continue their 15-year relationship. The band have previously worked with Boyle on the films Trainspotting, A Life Less Ordinary, The Beach and Sunshine and, most recently, the hugely acclaimed British theatrical production of Frankenstein.

Le Shok! milliwatt, megawatt, electric shock

Anyone else miss new wave synthpunk as much as I do? There is something so fun and energizing about this type of music. Its a mixture of new wave sounds and the original anger of what deep hardcore punk was all about in the 90's.

Originating in 1997 in Long Beach, CA members of various other local and mainstream punk bands put together 'Le Shok'; a punk band that only lasted about 4 years. Andrew Reizuch from 'Treadwell' came up with the original name 'The Shock' with Joey Karam and Todd Jacobs from 'The Locust' (another one of my favorite punk bands). These original members went from 'The Shock' to 'Le Shok' after trying to get vocalist and bassit of 'Crimson Curse' Justin Pearson to join the group, he in the end declined. Along the way Darryl Williams from 'Action League' and Rusty Cavender from 'Treadwell' joined the group. John Fones from 'Tunigs' joined in last along with Shaan Obney.

Throughout their short career, 'Le Shok' had members falling in and out of the band, while releasing only four 7" records while touring the United States only twice. As short lived as this band was, it was truly a stellar group of drunken punk artists. Punk bands don't get quite the attention they deserve, as most of the band members have some true talent but chose to show their grungy party sides. Todd Jacobs vocalist for 'Le Shok' and 'The Locust' is one of those hidden gems. I think for a punk singer, you need to have a certain sway or style to your voice and Jacobs has something interesting about his voice when he sings.

When you listen to the album We Are Electrocution (2000), which they are probably most famous for since it was their only CD released, you get a rambling and unrestrained musical recorded genius. Almost every song on the album isn't much longer than a minute or so. Truly, that's all they need to convey whatever it was they were trying to get to in their drunken states. As messed up as these party kids were, their lyrics actually are quite catchy and great.

Simple bob your head true violent punk rock music. And it's fucking fantastic.

You wanna talk about some serious French beats, then you are speaking about the "Bros" Brodinski and Gesaffelstein. Coming up this January, HARD Events is letting California experience these two incrediably talented DJ's on a two-night tour. San Francisco (January 13th) and Los Angeles (January 14th) are the two lucky cities to be given such honor. Proud to say that I will at the San Francisco stop. We can thank Gary Richards (Destructo), founder and owner of HARD Events, for making San Francisco one of the top cities for music and nightlife festivities. And now with the cheap price of $20 to see two of the biggest up and coming techno electronic DJs in France is sort of an unheard of phenomenon. If I were you, I'd find a way to be there.

Louis Rogue (Brodinski) hails from Reims and started mixing when he was 15 years old. From that day on he hasn't stopped making beats. In his early years he attracted the ears of Ed Banger Records' Pedro Winter and 2manydjs' David & Stephen Dewaele. Soon after he was picked up by London's Fabric Label and eventually asked to do an installment in one of their infamous Fabriclive DJ compilations, in which Fabric Director Keith Reilly describes these mixes as, "licensed rave tapes."

Mike Levy (Gesaffelstein) hails from Paris and became particularly big in the electronic scene around 2008. As a DJ this kid is uncomparable to anyone else. For something that seems so incredibly simple, really is intensely difficult to put together into sound. thedaftclub.com had the perfect quote to sum up how I feel about Gesaffelstein's music and him as a man, "His music is pretty much the sexiest stuff to come out of France since Daft Punk." Well fucking said.

All three come together at the Paris Social Club where the newest techno gods, Brodinski and Gesaffelstein, met and formed Bromance Records. Them boys are at it again. New drop coming out a few days ago of some seriously good shit. If you are from San Francisco or just live here, you know how hard it is to say that you don't just flat out love this city. Playing homage to their city in which they rip beats weekly, a new song from Niteppl comes out from one of my favorite record labels in city, Our House Records.
If you have never heard of these two before, then you need to do some better research. If you have and you know what I am talking about, spread the knowledge to others. Niteppl's newest release, I love San Francisco, is a grimed tribute to a city of the poor and rich. Heavy and rich in sounds and beats, something about this song makes you irie, but in a really really good way.
I can't help but spread the good loving beats around to you all...

So I just had the most amazing night of my life. Shooting for LIVE 105, one of the Bay's biggest radio stations, and seeing my all time favorite DJ Fake Blood, known as Theo Keating or touché. I was also blessed with the presence of Bag Raiders and 2manydjs. To say the least it was probably one of the greatest shows I have attended lately.
I obviously loved all of Fake Blood's set, but 2manydjs really impressed me. They dropped some major beats that just got the crowd insane. These two brothers make up the front of Soulwax, but often play as a duo under the name 2manydjs. I have never seen a show quite like theirs before, creating visuals on top of a huge LCD screen gives the audience visuals to go along with sounds. Along with that they had 4 trusses staggered on the sides of the DJ booth with strobes and intelligent lights to create and even more impressive environment. Lights in sync with LCD screen visuals, which were often repeated moving pictures enveloped with neon colors and movements, made the show seem larger than it was.
Fake Blood had a great set as well, not in the visual sense, but in the music sense. Fake Blood destroyed the show in my eyes. He personally to me dropped such great songs and in such a sync. Theo really has an ear for music and sounds and understands how to make beats swim well together. I was overall amazed by his set, he mixes with such a cool, calm, and collected exterior, its almost daunting to want to know what is going on in his mind during his sets. Being one of the few to still work with vinyl, his movements while mixing are small paces from one table to the next. Simple.
My life just got so much better: especially at the moments when Fake Blood dropped "Blood Splashing" and 2manydjs dropped "We Love Animals". LIFE=COMPLETE.

Los Angeles based dubstep DJ and producer John Dadzie has been in the electronic rave scene since he was in high school. Attending under ground raves and shows while in high school, he is no stranger to the music world. He started off producing and then eventually into mixing his own, while he originally started out in drum and bass, he then decided to move along to the dubstep world.

After listening to music and watching videos with my best friend Dylan, I came to realize how impressive this kid really is. Discovering how incredibly gifted he is when it comes to 'live' sets, I don't even know how to explain it. For those of you who are not aware of the difference in live and DJ sets, lets just say that live sets are WAY harder to do and 10x more impressive when done well. I'm impressed.

Madeon, a fresh new sound in the electronic-house-pop music scene, a French born producer has been making waves in the sound systems that are your ears. This kid, being as impressive as his sounds are, is only 16. Yes, I said it right, ONLY 16. Making as meticulous creations as some of the biggest DJ's in the world, he has certainly started making an impression on me. Madeon is extremely skilled at production and musicality in his mixes that it's hard to believe he hasn't been doing it for years. Let's just say that this kid will be richer than your face before he even becomes legal.

I am sure you have all heard of his top track 'Pop Culture' in which he remixes together 39 songs in a impressive mash-up. Impressed? It's just beginning. Being the only one known to date to be able to remix over any of Deadmau5's original cuts, Madeon was praised by Joel Zimmerman himself for his remix of 'Raise Your Weapon'. So impressed by Madeon's skill, it is included in Deadmau5's newest EP 'Raise Your Weapon (Remixes)'.

Madeon was given the chance to present his creation on Pete Tong's BBC Radio 1 on May 13, 2011, in which the world of electronic music was able to hear and melt to the sounds that will be filling all your ears in the coming years. We can expect nothing but great things from this kid in the coming years. He is such a baby in the sense of years, but in the sense of skill he one of the top ones out there.

SBTRKT pronounced 'Subtract' (Aaron Jerome) is a London based producer and a synth-pop dream. Creating music with multiple layers of sounds and beats, it's almost hard to hear where one starts and where one begins. Layering is one of his keys in creating such futuristic like beats. Starting his music career in the sound system in east London at Plastic People.
Over the course of time, he has perfected and produced his sound to be anything but normal. Sounding like no other electronic synth DJ out there, he definitely stands out. To that point, his name is hard enough to decipher, but we also have to figure out what he looks like. Preforming every show underneath an African inspired tribal mask, SBTRKT leaves you guessing and wondering after each performance.

Could it be a new Deadmaus5, Bloody Beetroots, or Daft Punk in the making? History will only tell...

I am sure you have all heard of the legendary Calvin Harris, if you haven't get off my blog now and go google some stuff you should already know. First a singer/song writer and recording producer, he definitely is an intricate DJ who has been popping up all over the place in the centrality of the electronic-house pop music scene. From the beginning of his Scottish career, Calvin Harris (Adam Wiles) became pro at the synthesizer releasing I Created Disco in 2007. One of my favorite albums to this date, I can't ever get tired of this album.Releasing his second album in 2009 entitled Ready for the Weekend, with big success by singles: Flashback and You Use to Hold Me. Now having quite a few big names up at the top of the electro-pop world, he is bigger than ever. Top hitters being; I'm not alone (2009) Bounce Ft. Kelis (2011), We Found Love Ft. Rihanna (2011) and Feel So Close(2011) to name a few.

After an amazing 250,000 attendees at EDC 2011 at the Motor Speedway, it returns bigger and better June 8, 9, and 10th 2012.

Deetron: It's Like Swiss Magic

There is always a heavy debate in the DJ world about vinyl V. digital mixing. What does one choose? Why not both? Swiss-born techno synth DJ Deetron (Sam Geiser) has done just that, mixing and intertwining the two worlds of the vinyl and digital mixing. It's true, both have their own attractive traits, but for Deetron, it was too hard to decide on just one. Being the sort of person being influenced by many things in his music, it doesnt seem unusual to see him working with both spectrum's of the DJing world.

In a press release featuring his newest album Balance: 020...

“I chose to use both digital and analogue formats since I'm using both when I'm playing out” he explains. “This compilation is a celebration of the gorgeous format that is vinyl and a praise for the endless possibilities the digital world has to offer.”

Taking his early strides as a house producer from hip-hop originally, his young career is soon to blossom in the electronic-house world. His music as soothing and intricate as it is, only brings you more and more into what he's feeling when he makes his music. Coming from an extremely musical family, his father a jazz player, he was surrounded by the sounds that bring people together. Falling in love with the hip-hop scene early on, it didn't take too much for him to evolve into his own sound in which you can hear bits and pieces of other genres that influenced his own personal sound.

Balance: 020 is a grand at its doing of elusively musical sounds. I highly suggest listening to it at night, you'll have a new appreciation for the world after I promise.

V Magazine-Issue 72

the transformation issue:
V Magazine to me is one of the top in Fashion and fashion forward work. Their creative director Stephan Gan never ceases to amaze me, issue after issue. I am highly impressed by the layout of the magazine itself, let alone the daring and unique spreads they shower you with throughout every issue.
In this particular issue, you are graced with great interviews of a wide array of artists, actresses, and models; all focusing on the idea of transformation. To begin its issue is a memorandium (one of two so far) from Lady Gaga on fashion and how she has transformed throughout the years and how fashion is an ever transforming process. Its a very short snipet from Gaga Land, but it's extremely well written and intriguing to say the least.
Moving along the magazine, there amazing interviews with the original party rockstar Marianne Faithful, cover model Penelope Cruz, vampire bombshell Anna Paquin, and America's princess Paris Hilton.

Electric Daisy Carnival Experience Film-Days Away

The highly anticipated EDC Experience film as you know as been pulled from showing at all AMC and Regal Theaters for undisclosed reasons. After that, it spurred a worldwide roar as numerous other theaters pulled the film, leaving no one showing the expected debut. It was further put out that Kaskades 'riot' in the streets of Hollywood spurred the reason to pull the film. It was more of a spirited parade than a chaotic riot like was said, its more of a reason to show how big EDM is and how far its coming in the music scene.
To me, it's seems like LA isn't big enough to hold or contain the EDM world. It is said that Las Vegas is to be the new location of EDM and the electronic-rave world, HOWEVER it was also found that all Las Vegas theaters pulled the film as well. It seems Las Vegas was happy with the outcome of EDC and what it brought for the city, but they don't want to be associated with the large crowds and so called 'riots' that are being put on in protest of lack of legitimacy by the EDM world. However, in my eyes, if we are being criticized for our lack of control and big crowds, why do we continuously riot and protest? Food for thought.

Official statement from Insomniac Events as of July 31, 2011:

The “Electric Daisy Carnival Experience” film has not been canceled and will continue to be shown in hundreds of theaters nationwide. Although we are very disappointed that Regal and AMC theaters have abruptly decided not to show the “Electric Daisy Carnival Experience,” we are excited that people will still have the opportunity to experience a film about one of the largest electronic music festivals in the world and the love and joy this music brings to our lives.

It is extremely disheartening that some theaters wrongly associated an unaffiliated “block party,” and its disorderly crowd, with the private screening of the film.

While we strongly disagree with the decision to pull the movie from some theaters, we assure our fans that they continue to have the ability to see our film on August 4, 2011 nationwide. We will post additional information on show times and locations on our website as they become available.

We love the music, we love the fans, and we’re working hard to replace those theaters that were lost so that all the peaceful, passionate fans who want to see the movie will still have the opportunity to do so. They were dancing in their seats at the premiere, and we want to give you the opportunity to do that too!

Enjoy the trailer yet again, I hope you all are able to get to see the film at the very few places that are still showing it, please travel to enjoy this great film, its legitimizes the experience I promise.

Hello my beautiful's.
It's been a real exciting few weeks. I have managed to snag two discounted macro capable lens, both 70-300mm, uh SCORE. Not only that, but YES I am getting myself a new Vivitar flash. So the kid who snapped it in half at EPR, know I'm still coming for you.

Other than my photo updates, life has been quite peachy here. I have created and built a new dress. It's a much classier piece than I am use to, but I think it was good practice. Once I have finished the belt I will add a photo of its lovelyness.

As you all know, Borders is going out of sale, sigh. But I went in and snagged 50% fashion magazines from all over the world! On the list was: The amazing V-Magazine from America, One Small Seed from South Africa, GUP from Amsterdam, Theme from Hong Kong, and the Lab magazine from Vancouver. When I go for fashion magazines I like to choose from a wide range of fashion form all over the world. So in that case, I grabbed anything I didn't recognize and took it home with me for half the price. Once I dig in to to these beauties, I'll write it up a review. In the mean time, check all these magazines out!

EPR 157 W/Joachim Garraud

Last Wednesday, I was able to shoot an excellent house producer. Joachim Garraud is part DJ, part house producer. Setting up big house names like David Guetta, Jean-Michel Jarre, Paul Johnson, Deep Dish, David Bowie, OMD, Kylie Minogue, Mylène Farmer, Cassius, Ceronne, Moby, Robbie Rivera... and many more.
He started off as a DJ under the alias the BOY. Now producing artists he rarely djs, until now. He is a great producer and great DJ, this man knows music. He put on such a great show by having fliers, stickers, and masks flying around the crowds. Not only is he great at what he does, but he has amazing stage presence. He was able to single handily take the crowd from one intense level of energy and build it on top of each other at least three-fold, if not more. It was truely a gift to see someone with such presence and passion perform before your eyes.

EDC Wrap-UP!

Sorry guys, it's been a rough few days for me. But I am finally around to write up my EDC wrap-up. YEOW! For those of you who missed it, I am terribly sorry. You missed out on one of Insomniac's most successful massive's to this date. The Las Vegas metropolitan area was nothing but pleased and happy with the turn out of not only the event itself, but of the tourism it provided for the city overall. Electric Dasiy Carnival provided jobs, tourism, and a fun fan-crowd for the Las Vegas and surrounding areas.
I was there for the whole weekend shooting photos for a dear friend of mine. I was able to catch some big name acts like: Skrillex, Stanton Warriors, Avicii, Swedish House Mafia, Afrojack, Felguk, Jack Beats, Felix Cartal, Wolfgang Gartner, Tiesto, Paul Oakenfold, Harvard Bass and A-Trak. That's only the few I managed to see more than 15 minutes of their sets, but EDC provided crowd goers with over 100 live performances of pure electronic sweetness. EDC also had 13-large scale art installations that provided visual and interactive experiences for the party-goers. Art installations ranging from Brolly Flock to a 15-minute firework extravaganza provided by Insomniac every single night! The Las Vegas Motor Speedway was a 1,000 acre playground of full-sized carnival rides, 6 stages, art installations, and euphoria.
Something new I noticed this year was WATER. Insomniac allowed fans to purchase an aluminum Insomniac water bottle before the event to take in and re-fill for FREE all night and every night! You could also purchase a water bottle/any drink at the event and re-fill it for free as well. I think this was a huge step for this event as the entire event had postings all over the place making sure that party-goers were well hydrated and knew of the free options to stay hydrated. Bravo Insomniac. It was in fact over 100 degrees in Vegas, just saying...
Over 230,000 attendees experience a purely smooth weekend of raving and dancing the night away while listening to top of the line artists play their hearts out. A state of the art screening process scanned I.D. cards to ensure everyone was over 18 and new this year for Insomniac is ticket cards that scan you in each day. I was nothing but impressed with the ease of getting in, parking (FREE parking might I add), walking through the gates, and dancing the night away. I was so grateful to be a part of this huge stepping stone in Insomniac's future career in providing top of the line carnivals and festivals for the masses.
I highly suggest you attend the next event that Insomniac graces you with, it won't let you down. I promise.

The time is coming near, the 15th annual Electric Daisy Carnival is at it again. It has become bigger and better than its past years and it is a festival that continues to grow. It has grown from a small company to a huge entity that party-goers look forward to every year. Insomniac Events has become one of the most well known event agencies in the electronic-house music world and it hasn't stopped impressing us each and every year it throws yet another epic festival.
This year, Insomniac takes Electric Daisy Carnival away from it's home in LA and proceeds to take it to Las Vegas, Sin City for a weekend of pure lights and music.

party hardy all the way into the A.M.

I just had the pleasure of viewing one of the most talented SF resident dj's I think in this current time of the electronic music world. Two friends of mine by the likes of their headline name, Realboy, are more just two kids named Daniel and Austin who hail from LA.
As listening to them when they were starting off, I have seen these two grow into phenomenal electro-house dj's. They kill it at every show they do, with fans to the wall and music to groove your feet too, this little duo couldn't do you wrong. Their music is unique and has a sweet twist of smooth beats that melt in your ears. You loose yourself when you see them play, partly because you are too immersed in watching these two bob their heads in sync as they mix and whisper sweet nothings in each others ears, its really quite cute. Two best friends, building the electronic dance music scene from the ground up.
If you haven't heard of these two, well get off your ass and google them now. I'll save you some trouble and link you to them, I am just that sweet (:

DIY Vintage Hippie Long Skirt

Hello my lovely readers. You want to know something that really bugs me? When vintage clothing is so freaking expensive, I don't understand why it is, its old therefore it should be cheaper than new. Its a phenomenon that I don't understand, I work at a buy, sell, trade clothing store and we don't price vintage high: we price it lower than new because new should be more expensive than used and in this case heavily used (vintage, old).
Being from San Francisco, I can't help but being in love with long summer skirts. Vintage Hippie Chic to the floor long skirts can be $30 to $50 a pop! Wow, that seems just too much in my eyes. So being the money conscious and crafty person I am, I came up with a DIY version of the ever popular Hippie Chic long skirt, ah just in time for the summer heat. Brace yourself, its going to be a sweaty one.

First: I started with a long flowy dress. Preferably in the jersey material. The satin, chiffon, and softer materials like that don't play well when you cut them without properly edging them.
Next: I added elastic strap to the top to hold the skirt to the body. As the elastic would be one straight piece, where the elastic piece meets back together in the back, that is where I added the zipper. Vola, you have yourself probably the cheapest Hippie Chic skirt ever. It may not be vintage per-say, but who has to know? Its as Vintage as you want it to be...

Drop the crotch

If I had to choose that "it" thing for me when it comes to fashion, honestly it would have to be the harem pant. I know, so out of season at the current moment, but I can't help but be mesmerized by these little fashion beauties. It has comfort, style, and durability. What else could you possibly want in a pant?
Ever since I went to Spain, I fell in love with the slouchy, comfort, and style of loose fitting bottoms. I come from a land where I wear very tight skinny jeans, but more often leggings and tights. However, as I was in Spain in my stylish skinny dark wash denim, I couldn't help but feel out of place and starred at. I was considered "out of fashion" in Spain, regardless of what was "in fashion" in America's terms.
Its interesting to see how different two worlds can be in regards to fashion; one could be on a trend while another is on a completely different trend in the same season. We were all cut from the same cloth, but its fun to see how different we can interpret trends.
All I have to say is if you don't have a pair of these lovelys, well stop reading this and get yourself online to buy a pair.

Born to be Queen

The late Alexander McQueen never ceases the amaze the world of fashion with his daring combination's and risk taking designs. His newest Creative Director (as of May 2010) Sarah Burton has been able to keep the spirit of the incredible designer alive. As troubled as McQueen was, his designs were unique, different, and much too out spoken; the detailing and contrast is unfathomable to think about. Its a shame the world had to see him leave so early and in such a terrible condition, but the spirit and life of McQueen will always be alive with us fans.
The newest Fall Ready-To-Wear Collection 2012 is a beautiful mixture of pastels, creams, soft grays, and dark-harsh blacks. Get out your mittens ladies, because its about to be a snowy wonderland.
This 34 piece collection is a tribute to the eskimo winters and the chiffon that flows in the fall wind. There are mixtures of styles in this full collection, however they all seem to blend together in what is a perfect mixture. Fur and tweed compliment the winter wonderland, while leather and dark black compliment the bondage nightlife, while the cream chiffon's and pastels compliment the coming into spring, and lastly the complete look compliments the woman on the go.
I can't picture a more perfect way for this collection to have been presented: winter fur, fall leather, spring flow and pastels, and ending it with a few of the most gorgeous gown's I have seen. It was breathtaking to flip through as I saw one of my all time favorite designers, come back to life so to speak.

Jean Paul the Goat

I almost had a heart attack when I saw Jean Paul Gaultier's Spring 2011 Couture line. It was a mix between and 1920's flapper style and a mixture of the hard essences of black fabrics in its modern sense. In the last few pieces of his 47 piece collection he picked up a little of color, but not too daring; mixing the harshness of black with deep reds, tan creams, and baby blues.
I fell in love instantly, you can see why. I loved how he was able to compile the two eras together so well. Almost as if it was really just one era, where one could not discover which is which in his playhouse of fashion. The hair is what really got me, I loved the hairstylists design of finger waves and mohawks in the center: pure genius.
I have nothing but great things to say about this designer: I'm a number one fan and you should be too...

throwing my head against the books

Its that time of year: FINALS. and I am not stranger to the procrastinating and ever lingering way of trying not to study for them. As you can see, I am certainly not studying at this moment, shh don't tell anyone.
Anyways, I have non-stop seen and heard nothing but stress and anger coming from my friends about the large amounts of information they must comprehend to barely pass their classes and I got to thinking: why does it matter? No one is going to look at your college Physics class and see: well dang, you got a D+ on your Physics final freshman year, sorry we can't hire you.
People stress and lock themselves in libraries to study for exams and all I can think about is how they aren't living up their age.
These are the prime times of our lives and we must live it up before it's gone. Not that I am saying don't study for your exams or flunk out of college, but what I am merely saying is that I think we need to stop taking things so seriously and simply-RELAX.
I mean, Frankie did say relax...

whats swimming got to do with it?

So, my latest creation has been comprised on a vintage Chanel swimsuit and some homemade ruffles! Yes, my roommate Gabriela got a vintage Chanel swimsuit from her grandma and asked me to turn it into a top. So of course I was all for the idea and lucky for you I will share with you my experience and how I did it.
First, I cut off the bottom/short portion of the romper-esque swimsuit and tossed the extra fabric. I then made two thin strips of fabric that I planned to use for the ruffles. I sewed the edges clean of all the participating parties and continued on. Then the last thing to do was to put the two together. I created the ruffles by placing the fabric into little knotchs while sewing the edge to the edge of the swimsuit/top.
In the end this is what I got. I am awfully proud of it and I think its a super easy project to do on your own too!

Bittersweet Symphony

The last two nights have been nothing but intellectual pondering for me. I enjoyed two really great talks with two brilliant friends of mine. The first night was with Kenta, who is someone I just recently met, but have found an uncanny synchronicity with. We talked about how we want to change the world of Art and its creativity involved. He is started a new company called Creators Unlocked and I think I am going to help out with it, which is amazing. Keep your eyes posted.

Tonight was another great pondering of life and its meaning with Adele, I again just recently met her too, but found yet another wonderful connection. You know how you meet people and just find that instant connection of what you don't know and what you want to know about the world? Well in a weird way I have been getting that with many people and it feels amazing to have that great human connection of some degree, varying really.

These intellectual discoveries have brought to me that I need to really take more advantage of the world around me and the wonderful people and places I see. I am almost there on my camera fund and I am going to be better about documenting my life from now on.

Summer is almost here and my finals are almost complete. It's been one hell of a year here in San Francisco. I am excited to go home for the summer and tie together some loose ends, but I am more excited to come back to this dirty, rough, and culture inclined city.

Next year will be the year I go into serious debt, due to the excessive amounts of clothes, shoes, and accessories that I am going to invest in. Get ready for the next wardrobe that you will want to steal.

Hello world, to whom ever is reading.
I haven't been up keeping this for more reasons than one, but I intend to return with new things. I will keep it updated with photos I take, things I see, people I meet, and the things I learn along the way. I am in between majors right now and even schools you could say. I have the opportunity to attend the Art Institute for fashion design, but I cannot afford it. I am deciding between an art major under Cinema as the closest thing I can get to costume design and photography. But I have become attached to the wilderness for environmental studies and Asian American studies. There are two parts to my personality; I am that wilderness goddess who could live among the wild and fight to protect it and keep it alive in our communities, but then there is the aspect of me that is all fashion, glamor, and photography. I don't know which side to follow. I am confused and unsure of what to do, but what I know I must be able to do is travel and explore the world. I have the time to decide, but until then, I will venture off in the many directions my passions draw me too.

So, its been a while since I have posted. Sorry.
School has been dragging me down, too many papers, readings, and lack of interest. I was particularly excited for this semester in the beginning, but as it has been slowly winding down, it has also been slowly boring me to death, thus my first year at SFSU is coming to a close success. Next year shall be interesting though, being at the bottom of barrel when it comes to registering WHOOP! Definitely cannot wait for that nonsense, however it will be cool to get out of the dorms and into an apartment. Looking forward to all that adult crap.
Any who, what is on the agenda for the day. I was talking to a friend last night about what...none other than POGS! The best game to ever roll out of the '90s. I really wish I still had mine so I could challenge people, but sadly I do not.
I was indeed the best at POGS, no lie I was awesome.

So today was a really good day. Oddly enough it was freezing cold, rainy, and very dark today, but it was really insightful for me. It got me thinking a lot about my future and where I want to go and what I want to accomplish before I die.
I relieved my old passions from when I was younger (dancing and soccer) and I really want to pursue them in this near future. Hopefully I'll get the chance to do that whilst figuring out what I really want to do with my life and how I want to be remembered on this earth.

I just want to travel, make history, discover, and dance my heart away into the night...maybe I'll get a chance to do all that in this lifetime. If not, it was a fun journey and I enjoyed it very much.

P.S. I am very excited to embark on my current project of creating SFSU's very first Dance Marathon! Wish me luck.

I think I found out about this band like 4 or 5 years ago. They were a super short lived punk thrash band from England. I loooooved them the second I heard and saw this music video, really bummed I never got to see them live, I anticipated insanity of their music live.
I still have all the songs I use to listen to on my itunes, now as I am cleaning up my abyss of a music collection and came across them. I forgot how much I loved their shit and how bummed I am they split.

But an associated act with one the guitarists is Lightspeed Champion and I really like him too.
Check it all out, good punk dance stuff and some acoustics for your soul.

Such talented boys, must say.
Oh and did I mention how adorable each member of the band is? just saying...

Katie Gallagher=favorite designer of the current second.
Her Spring 2010 look book is filled with an entire collection of black pieces, which black ah I love everything about!
The collection is dark and Gothic, yet smooth and clean in design. The pieces all fall nicely on the body and give the hard look a nice edge.
I would probably wear everything in this collection.
So if you get the chance, Id give her look book a LOOK.
I love everything about this New York dollface.

UCLA Dance Marathon 2010, wow what a journey.
There is nothing to describe it experience it.
Raised over $400,000 for pediatric AIDS, its amazing what can happen even in a recession.
I highly recommend either getting involved in Dance Marathon or an organization of choice.

Well, I have been quite to lagger on this. WHOOPS, I guess college is more important than this (:

Anyways, yes I am back in school and it feels good; good to be back in the city and good to be around my friends. I like a good majority of my classes, feels like it will be an interesting and good semester...I pray. So I take each step one by one and see where the path takes me, hopefully to a lot of A's, but we will see.

But, as I get my butt into the swing of things, I cant help but wander away from essays and readings when these lovely numbers await me online to gawk at.

So today was a little better, I got a chance to see the outside world again while catching up with an old friend.
We did a little shopping that included me spending not a dollar (:

As I will ramble on and on about, I miss San Francisco deeply and this break is just too long.
I cant wait to be back to the city where you can eat somewhere different every night and over the course of a year will still not have gone to every great restaurant.

p.s. Finally finished all the seasons of Sex and the City, New York is definitely in need of a visit by me.
